At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Governor Mike Pence and Massimo Pavin, Sirmax’s chief executive officer, and Mayor Kevin Smith announced the arrival of Sirmax North America, Inc. to Anderson, Indiana.
Sirmax’s first North American production facility will bring over $25 million in investment and 50 jobs to the central Indiana city.
“We welcome Sirmax to Anderson. Sirmax is an important Italian company with factories in Brazil, Poland, Italy and now USA. Sirmax's announcement marks Anderson's continued record job growth, our success rebuilding the former Guide Lamp site, and our growing world-wide reputation for being a great place for new business,” stated Mayor Kevin S. Smith.
Founded in 1964 under the name SIRTE, Sirmax, a Cittadella, Italy-based company, produces and supplies plastic compounds and resins used in the automotive, home appliance, electrical and furniture industries and has grown to be the second largest independent polypropylene compounded in Europe. Since 2005, Sirmax has grown to operate five manufacturing and sales facilities across the globe, including three facilities in Italy, a facility in Poland and a facility in Brazil, in addition to sales subsidiaries in Germany, France and Spain.
“The City of Anderson, Mayor Smith, and the City’s Economic Development team have won our trust and our business with their relentless commitment to meeting our needs toward our success in the US and North American market. Without their help this would not be possible. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Mayor Smith and the City of Anderson,” said Massimo Pavin.
Sirmax has already begun the process of building a new 141,000 square foot facility on the former GM Guide Lamp factory located in Anderson which is a brownfield that is currently owned and marketed by RACER Trust. With construction commencing in the coming months, the company anticipates an operational date of October 2015 to serve its automotive and appliance customers, including a U.S.-based client that signed a $20 million per year contract with Sirmax late last year.
With 200 employees located across its European and South American locations, Sirmax will begin to hire engineers, administrators, machine operators, quality control professionals, skilled equipment mechanics and production line associates for its Anderson location beginning in September 2015.
Over the past decade, Anderson has actively cultivated relationships with international companies and has attracted foreign capital, talent, and technologies. Sirmax’s investment will continue the growth of international companies locally and will kick start the redevelopment of one of the largest brownfield sites in Anderson.
